Celebrating the natural plant and animal life of the region, the Great Plains Nature Center offers both museum-style exhibits and an educational outdoor walking trail. The 3,500-square-foot Koch Habitat Hall has displays including a 2,000 gallon aquarium of native creatures and displays on various ecological systems. Surrounding the center, the 282-acre Chisholm Creek Park offers 2.5 miles of trails, including informative signs and displays on the different animals and features of the park. It sits on the northeastern edge of the city, about a mile from Wichita State University.
